He has headed up and participated in the development of major regional plans, development strategies and master plans, including but not limited to the National Urban System Plan of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Yangtze River Economic Belt Strategy Study, the Urban System Plan of Anhui Province (2012-2030), the Shanghai City Master Plan (2017-2035), the Beijing City Master Plan (2004-2020), the Tianjin 2049 Development Strategy, the Wuhan 2049 Spatial Development Strategy and Zhoushan Archipelago New Area Spatial Development Strategy, which focus on the patterns of economic development and spatial structure evolution in megacities. He has led the planning and design of major regions, including Shanghai Hongqiao Hub Area Plan and Shanghai Pudong New Area Development Plan, and has pioneered the theory of airport economic zone in China. He has participated in many studies on China’s urbanization by the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the General Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. He has led and participated in research projects on city master plan evaluation by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, urban planning studies on city clusters of the Yangtze River Delta, and World Bank’s research projects on low-carbon city development. He has published more than 30 papers, one monograph, and one translation and co-authored several books. He has received 1 Golden Award of National Excellent Engineering Design, and 5 first prizes, 7 second prizes and 5 third prizes of National Excellent Planning and Design.
