He is also a member of the Habitat Expert Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Director of the Urban and Rural Development Planning Standards Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Vice Chairman of the Urban Planning Society of China, Vice Chairman of the China Urban Public Transport Association, Member of the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), Adjunct Professor at Renmin University of China, and Doctoral Supervisor. As a well-known expert in urban and regional planning in China, he has headed up many major national scientific research projects and major design projects. He is in charge of the national urban system planning, Beijing master plan, and urban development strategies of Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Xiamen. He has published more than 40 papers and monographs, including National Spatial Planning, Trend and Evaluation of China’s Urbanization, Classifications and Distribution of China’s City Clusters, and Knowledge and Practice in Planning.
