A Technical Seminar of Smart City and Smart Transportation with the Center for Livable Cities of the Ministry of National Development of Singapore

On January 25, 2022, as the beginning of this years "CAUPD Think Tank" series of foreign affairs theme activities, CAUPD and Singapores Ministry of National Development Eco-City Office and Center for Livable City jointly held a technical seminar on the theme of "Smart City and Smart Transportation" (also the fourth seminar). The meeting was attended by Mr Zhu Ziyu, former Chief Planner of the CAUPD, Mr Heng Whoo Kiat, Director of the Eco-City Office of the Ministry of  National Development of Singapore, Mr Michael Koh , Senior Research Fellow (Senior Director) of the Livable City Centre of the Ministry of National Development of Singapore, Ms Hee Limin, Deputy Director Ms Amanda Ong and Ms Elaine Tan.

Entrusted by President Wang Kai, Zhu Ziyu introduced the recent research work of the CAUPD in the fields of smart city and smart transportation. Director General, Heng Whoo Kiat highlighted some problems and dilemmas faced by Singapore in the current construction of smart cities, and hoped to discuss relevant practical work with China.

Ms.Zhuang,Director of Digital Planning Laboratory,Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore, and Mr Wong Chi-ho, Executive Planner, shared their experiences in the Smart planning process and public housing practice on "Smart Planning Progress in Singapore" and "Smart and Sustainable Experience in Public Housing in Singapore" respectively. Zhang Yongbo, deputy director and professor-level senior planner of the Academic Information Center of CAS, explored and exchanged the urban information model (CIM) in recent work practice, and Zhao Yixin, Director of the Transportation Branch and professor-level senior engineer, introduced the concept and practice of digital development of urban transportation. The two sides held in-depth discussions on issues of concern and agreed to continue to build on the existing foundation, in accordance with the high standards of China-Singapore "deepening all-round cooperative partnership", and in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, openness and sharing, further strengthen exchanges in the planning and construction of smart cities and smart transportation, and continuously expand the results of cooperation.
