On March 17, a delegation from the BRICS Womens Business Alliance visited CAUPD. Mr. Wang Liqiu, the Secretary of the Party Committee of CAUPD, hold the meeting with the delegation which includes Ms. Lebogang Zulu, Chairperson of BRICS WBA (2023), Chairperson of South Africa Chapter of BRICS WBA and CEO of AV South Africa, Ms. Irene Chukwudebelu, CEO and Founder of Africa Women Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF), and Ms. Kelikile Elva Kwinana, Chief Executive and Founder of Ntando Thando Group of Companies. Both sides exchanged ideas on the topic of sustainable development and transformation in urban and rural construction, and discussed practical cooperation. Ms. Wang Yanfang, the Deputy Director-General of Department of Planning, Financing and Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC, attended the meeting and gave a closing remarks. Mr. Zhan Ruichao, Director of Department of Multilateral Cooperation, CCOIC, attended the meeting. Ms. Zhang Jing, Chief Planner of CAUPD, host the meeting.
Mr. Wang Liqiu, the Secretary of the Party Committee of CAUPD, stated that under the leadership of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC, CAUPD has actively participated in relevant works under the framework of the BRICS cooperation mechanism in recent years. Especially in 2022, CAUPD undertook two BRICS Urbanization Forum in virtual mode, conducting in-depth discussions on high-quality urban development, and deeply realizing that sustainable development and transformation have become a consensus of global human society. CAUPD has conducted extensive practical exploration and accumulated certain experience in urban renewal, sponge cities, resilient cities, smart cities, and urban age appropriate transformation. We are willing to actively promote cooperation and exchange with relevant institutions in South Africa on the basis of equal consultation and win-win cooperation.
Ms. Lebogang Zulu, Chairperson of BRICS WBA (2023), believes that in the context of the world facing tremendous changes and industrial transformation and development, the world has entered the digital age, and South Africa has a great demand for the development of smart cities. China has relatively mature solutions in relevant fields and Ms. Lebogang Zulu hopes CAUPD provide help for South Africa to make a better urban planning and construction from the perspective of professional and technology.
