Introduction:

In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up, the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design (CAUPD) has gathered over 20 influential experts and scholars in the planning industry to contribute commemorative articles. These articles reflect on experiences in administration, academic research, discipline development, and planning preparation, as well as participation in important decision-making processes, engagement in domestic and international academic exchanges, attendance at major events, and personal reflections on a rich journey of life that encompasses growth, education, career, and retirement. Through these articles, the contributors aim to impart wisdom to future generations and inspire them in their pursuit of urban and rural planning endeavors.
