Located in the north shore of Yundang Lake in the western part of Xiamen Island, Binbei Super Headquarters Base is of spatial importance to the city’s strategy to maintain quality and charm and promote rapid and sound development of the island. The design covers around 3 km2, led by CAUPD and together with AECOM Consulting and CCTN Design. Under the leadership of Academician Cheng Taining, former President Li Xiaojiang was in charge of the urban design team and Shanghai Branch undertook the project.

The urban design team considered the site to be at the intersection of Xiamens east-west development axis and the north-south cultural axis. Therefore, it was positioned as a charming central activity area for the high-value headquarters economy, while the paramount task was to define Xiamen’s standards for “super headquarters”. With charm, activity, value and quality as the core, the vision of “Hyperstructure Landscape for a Parlor in Luwan” was proposed. The hyperstructural landscape integrates green ecosystem, efficient production, and fun lifestyle to create a parlor in Luwan that captures the local characteristics of southern Fujian and exuberates with activity all the time, which is expected to shape a vibrant chain connecting and combining urban space and natural landscape and rejuvenate the old townthe most charismatic and energetic residence brimming with the charm of Xiamen.
