In May 2002, Du Baodong received a masters degree in urban planning from Harbin Institute of Technology. From June 2002 to July 2003, he worked in Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen . From July 2003 to now, he has worked in China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, serving as the chief engineer, deputy director and director of Urban Construction Institute. He has served as responsible planner of Zhongguancun Science City, adjunct professor of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and chief planner of Hebei Provincial Department of Natural Resources.
He has presided over and participated in various planning and scientific research courses such as "Urban and Rural Planning of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei", "Master Urban Planning of Beijing", "Territorial Spatial Planning of Hebei Province", "Research on Function Expansion of Shanghai Hongqiao Hub", "Master Planning of Airport Economic Zone of Daxing International Airport", "Spatial Planning of Zhengzhou Metropolitan Area", and "Research on Conceptual planning of Ecological Protection and high-quality Development Core Demonstration Zone of the Yellow River Basin in Zhengzhou" More than 100 questions, and won the national excellent engineering survey and design silver award 1, the national excellent urban and rural planning design first prize 5, second prize third prize.
