ZHANG Guanghan

Mr. ZHANG Guanghan currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Planner at the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design(CAUPD). With the title of Professorate Senior Urban Planner, he is recognized as an expert who enjoys special allowance of the State Council. He is also concurrently a member of the Professional Committee for Historic and Cultural Protection and Inheritance by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development(MoHURD), an expert in the Program Review Expert Database for Key National Cultural Relics Project by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and a council member at the Chinese National Committee for the International Council on Monuments and Sites(ICOMOS). As a well-known expert in the field, Mr. ZHANG specializes in the protection of cultural heritage, including famous historical and cultural cities in China. He has taken charge of numerous major national scientific research and design projects. Notably, he has been responsible for the protective planning of Beijing Jingshan historical and cultural protected areas(with eight blocks), the heritage conservation planning of the Zhejiang section of the Grand Canal, and the conservation planning of national famous cities such as Zhengding, Langzhong, and Shenyang. His expertise has been recognized with two first prizes and seven second prizes for planning and design of national excellence, as well as two second prizes of the China Award for Science and Technology in Construction. He has also led scientific research initiatives, such as the the 13th Five-Year Plan for the Construction of Conservation Facilities for National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities, Townships, and Villages, and the Preparation and Approval Measures for the Conservation Plans for Blocks in Famous Historical and Cultural Cities, Townships, and Villages.
