Over the years, Zhang Jing has led and participated in a number of major planning studies and planning preparations, and has published many academic papers with outstanding academic achievements. The results of the project “Urban Planning, Management and Development in China in the 21st Century”, in which she participated, have generated considerable buzz in the international arena and won the academic achievement award of ISOCARP. She led and participated in a series of major projects such as “Reform and Innovation of Urban Master Plan Preparation Methods”, “Urban Master Plan Preparation and Approval Methods”, “Research on Technical Standard System of Urban and Rural Planning” and “Urban Land Classifications and Planning Construction Standards”. She organized expert teams to compile 11 volumes of Urban Planning Sourcebook, participated in the preparation of Yangtze River Delta City Cluster Development Plan, Chengdu-Chongqing City Cluster Development Plan and Beibu Gulf City Cluster Development Plan jointly organized by National Development and Reform Commission and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and undertook numerous urban planning and design projects such as Xinjiang Urban System Planning, Tianfu New Area Master Plan, Guangzhou City Development Strategic Plan 2030, Nanjing Overall City Development Strategy and Spatial Distribution Planning and Guangzhou City Master Plan.
Other honors that were bestowed upon her include National Pioneer of Women’s Achievements, National March 8th Red-banner Pacesetter, National May 1 Labor Medal, 2 first prizes and 4 second prizes of the National Excellent Urban and Rural Planning and Design Award, 2 second prizes of China Award for Science and Technology in Construction, and 2 third prizes of for Excellent Planning and Design Award of the former Ministry of Construction.
