On June 7, 2023, Mr. Wang Kai, the President of CAUPD led a delegation to participate in the side event which theme is “” jointly organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, Shanghai Municipal Peoples Government, and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) on "Towards a Multilateral Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange System to Accelerate SDGs Implementation in Cities". The side event aims to strengthen cooperation and exchange between the the flagship programme ‘SDGs Cities’ and the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award).

Mr. Wang Kai, President of CAUPD, paid a visit to Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Executive Director of UN-Habitat, who visited CAUPD in 2019. He expressed his gratitude to Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif for her positive contributions to Global Sustainable Development and her concern and support for the sustainable development of Chinese cities. On behalf of CAUPD, Mr. Wang Kai extended an invitation to Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif for exchange.

According to the meeting schedule, the delegation visited the headquarters of UN-Habitat. Accompanied by UN-Habitat and the local Planning Bureau, the delegation conducted research on the Nairobi urban renewal project in Nairobi (LUTHULI AVENUE street renovation and upgrading) and the KOROGOCHO slum renovation and upgrading work. They exchanged ideas with local organizations (Komb Green Solutions) and introduced Chinas work experience in relevant fields. Ms. Zhang Jing, Chief Planner of CAUPD, and responsible comrades from CAUPD’s departments such as General Office, Department of Science & Technology , and Academician Studio participated in the delegation of CAUPD.
