President Wang Kai Visited Meishan, Sichuan and Attended the Digital China Summit in Fuzhou

Into act on the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his visit in Meishan of Sichuan Province, Wang Kai, President of CAUPD, accompanied by relevant leaders of Meishan, went on a field trip on the “Designing and Planning of Cultural Tourism Area in the Former Residence of Sansu (three literary masters, Su Xun, Su Shi and Su Zhe)” on April 25. The proposal put forward by the consortium led by the western branch of CAUPD won the first place in the call for proposal design, who will undertake the following tasks.  

President Wang Kai and his entourage visited the Meizhou ancient city wall and Sansu Temple, understood the main components of the project, technical difficulties, and work progress, and demanded further implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions to foster stronger confidence in culture, promote Chinese culture, prepare plans in a scientific way, provide high quality onsite services, and guide the implementation and construction. 

On April 27, the 6th Digital China Summit took place in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. The event was co-hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Fujian Provincial People’s Government. Wang Kai, President of CAUPD, was invited to give a presentation on “China’s Solutions to Sustainable Urbanization” at the “2023 WUPEN Global Forum” of the Summit.
The forum, hosted by the World Urban Planning Education Network (WUPEN) and organized by the UNESCO IKCEST (International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology) iCity, was conducted both online and offline. Participating experts including Wu Zhiqiang, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Jarmo SUOMINEN, Vice Dean of the Shanghai International Institute of Design and Innovation of Tongji University, Michael BATTY, fellow of the Royal Society, Bernhard MUELLER, member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering, and Otthein HERZOG, member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering and foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering explored the theoretical method of “precise adaptation” of towns and cities to the nature proposed by President Wang Kai and commend its successful applications in China and universal benefits worldwide. On behalf of the UNESCO IKCEST iCity, Academician Wu Zhiqiang awarded the senior expert certificate to President Wang Kai. 

During the meeting, President Wang Kai was interviewed by People’s Daily, sharing how to use digital museums to retain people’s nostalgic “memories”. President Wang Kai pointed out that through the digital technology used in the digital museums of traditional villages, the full picture of Chinese traditional villages is displayed in all aspects and from all perspectives, which not only records the appearance and form of villages in different geographical units and from varying historical and cultural backgrounds, but also fully documents the life and customs of villagers, showing the charm of Chinese traditional villages to the world and narrating the story of the villages. 
Colleagues from the General Office, Academician Work Office, Information Center, and the western branch of CAUPD participated in the relevant trips and meetings.
